The base form of any noun is naturally singular and so that is the Singular Noun.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Duck, Bush, Man, Mouse, Child, Fish etc. are Singular Nouns.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Singular Noun in a sentence:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>I have a pet&nbsp;<strong>duck<\/strong>.<\/li><li>That big&nbsp;<strong>bush<\/strong>&nbsp;is beside our house.<\/li><li>He is the&nbsp;<strong>man<\/strong>&nbsp;of the house.<\/li><li>Ron\u2019s pet&nbsp;<strong>mouse<\/strong>&nbsp;is too vicious for such a little creature.<\/li><li>Their&nbsp;<strong>child<\/strong>&nbsp;has a sound sense of situational adjustments.<\/li><li>I\u2019d like that small&nbsp;<strong>fish<\/strong>, please.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Plural Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The plural forms of the Singular Nouns are Plural Nouns. These nouns determine more than one element.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Belts, Boxes, Mice, Sheep, People etc. are examples of Plural Noun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Plural Noun in a sentence:<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>There are seven&nbsp;<strong>belts<\/strong>&nbsp;in the seat.<\/li><li>Let\u2019s unpack those&nbsp;<strong>boxes<\/strong>.<\/li><li>Our house is scattered with a herd of&nbsp;<strong>mice<\/strong>.<\/li><li>I\u2019ve chased the&nbsp;<strong>sheep<\/strong>&nbsp;back into the shed.<\/li><li>These&nbsp;<strong>people<\/strong>&nbsp;are getting on my nerves.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Regular Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Regular Nouns do not change in spelling when changed into plural; only the regular plural suffixes -s or -es are attached to it according to the grammar and spelling agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Singular Noun<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Plural Noun<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Duck<\/td><td>Ducks<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Belt<\/td><td>Belts<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Box<\/td><td>Boxes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Bush<\/td><td>Bushes<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Apple<\/td><td>Apples<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Irregular Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Irregular Nouns do not have plural suffixes added to them for their plural form and they monumentally change in spelling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Examples:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Singular Noun<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Plural Noun<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Man<\/td><td>Men<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Ox<\/td><td>Oxen<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Fox<\/td><td>Vixen<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Goose<\/td><td>Geese<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Mouse<\/td><td>Mice<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Possessive Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>The noun that owns something or has something in its possession is the Possessive Noun. These nouns usually end with an apostrophe before one \u201cs\u201d that determines the possession of the object(s) that follows.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>My&nbsp;<strong>cat\u2019s<\/strong>&nbsp;litter needs changing very soon.<\/li><li><strong>Jacky\u2019s&nbsp;<\/strong>wallet is stolen<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><li>Your&nbsp;<strong>pet\u2019s&nbsp;<\/strong>feeder is missing<strong>.<\/strong><\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Verbal Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Verb + ing often act as the noun\/subject of the sentence instead of posing as a verb and then they become a Verbal Noun. Gerunds can be Verbal Nouns at times.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Example:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-table\"><table><tbody><tr><td><strong>Verb<\/strong><\/td><td><strong>Verbal Noun<\/strong><\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Run<\/td><td>Running<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Smoke<\/td><td>Smoking<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Kill<\/td><td>Killing<\/td><\/tr><tr><td>Treat<\/td><td>Treating<\/td><\/tr><\/tbody><\/table><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>Smoking<\/strong>&nbsp;is injurious to health.<\/li><li><strong>Killing<\/strong>&nbsp;the runaway tiger is not a solution.<\/li><li><strong>Running<\/strong>&nbsp;for dear life is what thieves do.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Material Noun:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Substances made out of tangible materials are usually Material Nouns. These are Common Uncountable Nouns by nature since they mostly determine a certain sector type of product.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Examples:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>I lack the common fascination with<strong>&nbsp;gold<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>Coal<\/strong>&nbsp;produces nonrenewable energy.<\/li><li>Humans are 70%&nbsp;<strong>water<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Functions of Nouns<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Nouns can be used as a subject, a direct object, and an indirect object of a verb; as an object of a preposition; and as an adverb or adjective in sentences. Nouns can also show possession.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Subject:&nbsp;<\/strong>The&nbsp;company&nbsp;is doing great.&nbsp;Roses&nbsp;are the flowers of love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Direct object:&nbsp;<\/strong>I finally bought a new&nbsp;mobile.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Indirect object:&nbsp;<\/strong>Max gave&nbsp;Carol&nbsp;another chocolate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Object<\/strong><strong>&nbsp;of preposition:&nbsp;<\/strong>Roses are the flowers of&nbsp;love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adverb:&nbsp;<\/strong>The train leaves&nbsp;today.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Adjective:&nbsp;<\/strong>The&nbsp;office&nbsp;building faces the mall.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Possession:&nbsp;<\/strong>The&nbsp;lion\u2019s&nbsp;cage is dangerous.
