(Here, you don\u2019t have to mention \u2018Michael\u2019 again)<\/li><li>The coach selected several key points.&nbsp;He&nbsp;wanted the team to memorize&nbsp;them. (\u2018He\u2019 replaces \u2018the coach\u2019; \u2018them\u2019 replaces \u2018several key points\u2019)<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>The word or phrase that a pronoun replaces is called the\u00a0<strong>antecedent<\/strong>\u00a0of the pronoun. In the previous example, original noun \u2018the coach\u2019 is the\u00a0<strong>antecedent<\/strong>\u00a0and the pronoun \u2018he\u2019 is the\u00a0<strong>referent<\/strong>\u00a0because it refers back to the original noun. The antecedent and the pronoun\/s must agree in terms of number and gender.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Definition of Pronoun:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote\"><p>\u201cPronoun means for \u2013 a noun.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Wren &amp; Martin<\/strong><\/p><p>\u201cA pronoun is a word used instead of a noun-equivalent.\u201d&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &#8211;&nbsp;<strong>Nesfield<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<p>A pronoun is a simpler common name for a noun.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Example of Pronoun as a Part of Speech:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>She<\/strong>&nbsp;loved her children.<\/li><li>But&nbsp;<strong>she<\/strong>&nbsp;could not love her husband.<\/li><li>People of the city were afraid of&nbsp;<strong>her<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>They<\/strong>&nbsp;prayed for the well-being of their king.<\/li><li>But&nbsp;<strong>they<\/strong>&nbsp;did not do the same for their queen.<\/li><li>The queen was not loved and&nbsp;<strong>she&nbsp;<\/strong>knew&nbsp;<strong>it<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>It<\/strong>&nbsp;did not hurt&nbsp;<strong>her<\/strong>&nbsp;a lot.<\/li><li><strong>He<\/strong>&nbsp;made&nbsp;<strong>him<\/strong>&nbsp;the most powerful man in the seven kingdoms.<\/li><li>People loved&nbsp;<strong>him<\/strong>&nbsp;so much.<\/li><li><strong>He<\/strong>&nbsp;also loved&nbsp;<strong>them<\/strong>&nbsp;and cared about&nbsp;<strong>them<\/strong>.<\/li><li><strong>It<\/strong>&nbsp;made&nbsp;<strong>him<\/strong>&nbsp;very popular.<\/li><li><strong>They<\/strong>&nbsp;got their meals.
