The prepositions used to express the relationship the Nouns and\u00a0Pronouns\u00a0of a sentence have with the rest of the words in it are called\u00a0Simple Prepositions. Compound Prepositions are easily confused with Double Prepositions since they both require other prepositions or words to help with acting like a preposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li><strong>According to<\/strong>&nbsp;my calculations, this color should work just fine.<\/li><li>I started for home,&nbsp;<strong>with a view to<\/strong>&nbsp;celebrating Eid with my family.<\/li><li><strong>On behalf of<\/strong>&nbsp;our family, my father attended the family reunion.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>Participle Preposition<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Present Participles (-ing) and Past Participles (-ed and -en) that are used as Prepositions instead of\u00a0Verbs, are called Participle Prepositions. Often these prepositions are disguised as &#8220;a&#8221; and &#8220;o&#8221; in sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>I wake up at 5&nbsp;<strong>o<\/strong>&#8216;clock. (Of the clock)<\/li><li>Keep striding&nbsp;<strong>a<\/strong>head. (on the head)<\/li><li>Pope went&nbsp;<strong>a<\/strong>shore. (onshore)<\/li><li>Rimi visits the riverbank once<strong>&nbsp;a<\/strong>&nbsp;day. (in a day)&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\"><strong>Detached Preposition<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A preposition that has been detached and sent to the very end of the sentence is called Detached Preposition. These prepositions are detached from the interrogative or relative pronouns and\u00a0adverbs\u00a0but get detached for the sake of the integrity of sentences.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Examples:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>Where are you coming&nbsp;<strong>from<\/strong>?<\/li><li>Is that the neighborhood you are headed&nbsp;<strong>to<\/strong>?<\/li><li>I won&#8217;t tolerate being screamed&nbsp;<strong>at<\/strong>.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\" id=\"time\"><strong>Prepositions of Time<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepositions of time\u00a0show the relationship of time between the nouns to the other parts of a sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On, at, in, from, to, for, since, ago, before, till\/until, by<\/em>, etc. are the most common preposition of time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Example:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>He started working&nbsp;at 10 AM.<\/li><li>The company called meeting&nbsp;on 25 October.<\/li><li>There is a holiday&nbsp;in December.<\/li><li>He has been ill&nbsp;since Monday.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\" id=\"place\"><strong>Prepositions of Place and Direction<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepositions of place\u00a0show the relationship of place between the nouns to the other parts of a sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>On, at, in, by, from, to, towards, up, down, across, between, among, through, in front of, behind, above, over, under, below,<\/em>\u00a0etc. are the most common prepositions of place\/direction.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-large-font-size\"><li>He is&nbsp;at home.<\/li><li>He came&nbsp;from England.<\/li><li>The police broke&nbsp;into the house.<\/li><li>I live across the river.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\" id=\"agents\"><strong>Prepositions of Agents or Things<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Prepositions of agents or things\u00a0indicate a causal relationship between nouns and other parts of the sentence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>Of, for, by, with, about<\/em>, etc. are the most used and common prepositions of agents or things.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-large-font-size\"><li>This article is&nbsp;about smartphones.<\/li><li>Most&nbsp;of the guests&nbsp;have already left.<\/li><li>I will always be here&nbsp;for you.<\/li><li>He is playing&nbsp;with his brothers.<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"has-black-color has-text-color wp-block-heading\" id=\"phrasal\"><strong>Phrasal Prepositions<\/strong> :<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A\u00a0phrasal preposition\u00a0is not a prepositional\u00a0phrase, but they are a combination of two or more words that function as a preposition.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Along with, apart from, because of, by means of, according to, in front of, contrary to, in spite of, on account of, in reference to, in addition to, in regard to, instead of, on top of, out of, with regard to, etc. are the most common phrasal prepositions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Example:<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"has-large-font-size\"><li>They&nbsp;along with&nbsp;their children went to Atlanta.<\/li><li>According to&nbsp;the new rules, you are not right.<\/li><li>In spite of&nbsp;being a good player, he was not selected.<\/li><li>I\u2019m going&nbsp;out of&nbsp;the city.<\/li><\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Simple Preposition : These are among the most common type of prepositions.
