That said, the majority of children that have the condition will not present with any symptoms.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-9\">When symptoms of the infection do arise, they include:<sup>2<\/sup><sup>3<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul id=\"mntl-sc-block_1-0-11\"><li>Fever<\/li><li>Ulcers\u00a0in both the front and back of the mouth<\/li><li>Swelling and bleeding of the gums<\/li><li>Tonsillar exudate\u00a0(when the tonsils become coated by a fluid)<\/li><li>High white blood cell count (immune system\u00a0cells designed to fight off infection)<\/li><li>Painful blisters in the mouth<\/li><li>Sore throat<\/li><li>Drooling (although this is more common in children than adults)<\/li><li>Foul-smelling breath, also known as\u00a0halitosis<\/li><li>Not wanting to eat because of a sore mouth<\/li><li>Feeling generally unwell<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"mntl-sc-block-callout-heading_1-0\">Health Complications of Gingivostomatitis<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Typically, the symptoms of gingivostomatitis range from mild to severe.
