The two primary types of Friedel-Crafts reactions are the alkylation and acylation reactions. These reactions were developed in the year 1877 by the French chemist Charles Friedel and the American chemist James Crafts.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>An illustration describing both the Friedel-Crafts reactions undergone by\u00a0benzene\u00a0is provided below.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/mdr.foobrdigital.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/06\/Friedel-Crafts-Reaction1.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-5169\" title=\"Friedel-Crafts Reaction\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>It can be noted that both these reactions involve the replacement of a hydrogen atom (initially attached to the aromatic ring) with an electrophile.
