{"id":5363,"date":"2022-07-02T06:34:13","date_gmt":"2022-07-02T06:34:13","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/mdr.foobrdigital.com\/?p=5363"},"modified":"2022-07-02T06:34:13","modified_gmt":"2022-07-02T06:34:13","slug":"isotopes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/mudassirbackup.infinitycodestudio.com\/index.php\/2022\/07\/02\/isotopes\/","title":{"rendered":"Isotopes"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Isotopes are defined as the atoms of the same element, having the same atomic number ( number of protons ) but different mass numbers ( number of protons+neutrons ).<br>For example: In the case of Hydrogen we have:<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.byjus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/02\/Electron-Shell.png\" alt=\"Electron shell\" width=\"500\" height=\"238\"><br>Atoms of different elements with different atomic numbers, which have the same mass number, are known as isobars.<br>For example, Calcium and Argon: both have the same mass number \u2013 40<br><sub>20<\/sub>Ca<sup>40<\/sup>&nbsp;and&nbsp;<sub>18<\/sub>Ar<sup>40<\/sup><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Calculation of mass number for isotopic elements<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>When an element has an isotope, the mass number can be calculated by the different proportions it exists in.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>For example take 98% Carbon-12u and 2% Carbon-13u<br><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/cdn1.byjus.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/05\/content_untitled-2.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"255\" height=\"37\"><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This does not mean that any Carbon atoms exists with the mass number of 12.02u.
