The\u00a0best way\u00a0to prevent shingles is to have the chickenpox vaccine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>To avoid spreading the virus to others, people with shingles can:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul><li>avoid direct contact with others<\/li><li>cover the rash<\/li><li>try not to touch or scratch the rash<\/li><li>clean their hands frequently<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>Some individuals are more at risk of developing severe shingles complications than others.
