As a result, the child\u2019s growth\u00a0may slow\u00a0or stop.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Perianal disease<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>About\u00a030%\u00a0of teens and children with Crohn\u2019s develop symptoms involving their anus, including pain, tears, or blockages.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Perianal disease can make it difficult to have a bowel movement. Also, tears and other injuries around the anus can lead to infections.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Oral symptoms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>About\u00a040%\u00a0of children with Crohn\u2019s develop oral symptoms, which means that the disease affects their mouth, including their gums.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>A person may notice sores in the child\u2019s mouth or swelling of their gums. The child may complain of mouth or tongue pain or have frequent dental problems.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Eye pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Crohn\u2019s-related inflammation\u00a0can affect\u00a0the eyes, causing swelling, itching, and burning in and around the eyes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Skin symptoms<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some children develop a rash called\u00a0erythema nodosum. This causes flushed skin and blisters or welts to form. These may develop in a cluster in a single spot,\u00a0often\u00a0the shins, or they may appear throughout the body.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Joint pain<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Some children with Crohn\u2019s develop\u00a0joint inflammation\u00a0that can cause chronic pain or difficulty moving.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><\/p>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Anemia<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>A child with Crohn\u2019s disease has bleeding in their gut, which\u00a0can cause\u00a0anemia.
