What does \u201cEquity\u201d mean?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The account equity<\/strong> or simply \u201cEquity<\/strong>\u201d represents the current value of your trading account.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equity is the current value of the account and fluctuates<\/em> with every tick when looking at your trading platform on your screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

It is the sum of your account balance and all floating (unrealized) profits or losses associated with your open positions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As your current trades rise or fall in value, so does your Equity.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

How to Calculate Equity If You Have No Trades Open<\/h2>\n\n\n\n

If you do NOT have any open positions, then your Equity is the same as your Balance.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Equity = Account Balance<\/pre>\n\n\n\n

What is the difference between Balance and Equity?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n
Let\u2019s start with a simple answer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
If your account is \u201cflat\u201d or does NOT have any positions open, then your Balance and Equity are the SAME.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But if you do have open positions, this is when the Balance and Equity differ.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
