Technical analysis<\/strong> is the framework in which traders study price movement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The theory is that a person can look at historical price movements and determine the current trading conditions and potential price movement.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Someone who uses technical analysis is called a technical analyst<\/strong>. Traders who use technical analysis are known as technical traders<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The main evidence for using technical analysis is that, theoretically, all current market information is reflected in the price<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical traders generally ascribe to the belief that \u201cIt\u2019s all in the charts!<\/strong>\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n

This simply means that all known fundamental information is priced into the current market price.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If price reflects all the information that is out there, then price action is all one would really need to make a trade.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical analysis looks at the rhythm, flow, and trends in price action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now, have you ever heard the old adage, \u201cHistory tends to repeat itself<\/strong>\u201c?<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Well, that\u2019s basically what\u00a0technical analysis\u00a0is all about!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

If a certain price held as a major support or resistance level in the past,\u00a0forex\u00a0traders will keep an eye out for it and base their trades around that historical price level.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical analysts look for similar patterns<\/strong> that have formed in the past and will form trade ideas believing that price could possibly<\/em> act the same way that it did before.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical analysis is NOT so much about prediction as it is about POSSIBILITY. <\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

In the world of trading, when someone says \u201ctechnical analysis\u201d, the first thing that comes to mind is a chart<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical analysts use charts because they are the easiest way to visualize historical data<\/strong>!<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Technical analysts live, eat, and breathe charts which is why they are often called chartists<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Chartists believe that price action is the most reliable indicator of future price action.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You can look at past data to help you spot trends and patterns<\/strong> which could help you find some great trading opportunities.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

What\u2019s more is that with all the traders who rely on technical analysis out there, these price patterns and indicator signals tend to become self-fulfilling.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

As more and more forex traders look for certain price levels and chart patterns, the more likely that these patterns will manifest themselves in the markets.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

You should know though that technical analysis is VERY subjective.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Just because Michelangelo, Donatello, Leonardo, and Raphael are looking at the exact same chart setup or indicators doesn\u2019t mean that they will come up with the same idea of where price may be headed.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

The important thing is that you understand the concepts under technical analysis so you won\u2019t get nosebleeds whenever somebody starts talking about Fibonacci,\u00a0Bollinger Bands, or pivot points.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Now we know you\u2019re thinking to yourself, \u201cGeez, these guys are smart. They use crazy words like \u2018Fibonacci\u2019 and \u2018Bollinger\u2019. I can never learn this stuff!\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
